Current Obsessions

Hey guys! We’re back for part 2 of our new series, Current Obsessions; sharing our current favorite books, products, restaurants, etc. This week we are both sharing a couple of cookbooks we can’t keep our hands off of lately! We love browsing through cookbooks for ideas and then putting our own twist on them.

There are so many great cookbooks on our shelves it’s hard to highlight just a few! Be sure to check your local library for cookbooks, it’s a great way to incorporate a variety of recipes into your diet.

Hey guys, Jess here (the vegan sister)! For Christmas my boyfriend bought me this cookbook,Vegan Italian Kitchen, from Chloe Coscarelli, the most adorable vegan chef ever. She recently opened a restaurant in NYC I’d love to try!
Her cookbook has amazing Italian recipes that are so easy and require simple ingredients. Every time I turn a page I end up bookmarking the recipe to make! One of my favorites so far is the Artichoke Pesto Pasta Salad, with orechiette pasta, which cradles the pesto into delicious creamy bites. I also love this Pesto Mac & Cheese shown below (I guess I have a thing for pesto). I never would have thought to mix mac and cheese with pesto but it totally works!


Chloe Coscarelli has a few other cookbooks I need to check out, as well!

My boyfriend also recently surprised me with Nom Yourself, a book I’ve been lusting over for forever! I pointed it out at a bookstore and when we left the store he handed it to me-so sweet! I was so stoked, I follow @nomyourself on Instagram & drool over the amazing creations chef Mary Mattern comes up with. Chef Mary transforms simple vegetables into old comfort food classics, like donuts, portobello steaks, and “crab” cakes made out of hearts of palm.


My favorite dish so far is Crispy Orange Sesame Cauliflower, which reminds me of eating copious amounts of tangy orange chicken in my prevegan days. This dish is one of the best things I’ve eaten in awhile! The crispy cauliflower drenched in sweet orange sauce hit the spot! I added shredded carrots & edamame for some more veggies & protein.

I can’t wait to keep trying her recipes!

Hi, everyone! Nikki here (the omnivorous sister). Today I’m sharing two cookbooks I’ve been obsessed with lately. The first one is called Tiny Food Party by Teri Lyn Fisher and Jenny Park. They also run a blog called Spoon Fork Bacon which is also worth checking out!


I love this cookbook because it is so great for entertaining.It is full of party-friendly recipes that are also so cute to look at! Like these pint-size chicken and waffles:


I feel like party food is best kept simple and easy to eat standing up or with your hands. This cookbook has endless ideas, from cocktails to dessert.


These tiny ice cream sandwiches would be so fun at a make-your-own ice cream bar. Simple touches like these make every party much more memorable. Not to mention, way easier to serve which equals less time in the kitchen and more time with your guests!


This book, The Year of Cozy, by Adrianna Adarme. She also has a blog, A Cozy Kitchen, that is one of my favorites. Jess bought me this book for my birthday this year, and I can’t put it down! I love it because it is full of tons of amazing recipes, crafts, and adventure ideas that I can’t wait to get through. I’m a huge DIY fan and this book has a lot of unique ideas that I haven’t seen before. Check out this adorable DIY table runner:

How cute is that?! I can’t wait to make mine. That is just one of the many super-cute DIY ideas in her book.

There are also endless amazing recipes in the book, like these coconut-lemon doughnuts- yum!! I also really love (and can appreciate) how perfectly-photographed each page is. So aesthetically pleasing, and one of my favorite things about the book. It’s so pretty to look at!
